On Tuesday, July 31, 2007, Esaí and his friend Emmanuel were leaving McDonald's on their way to 7-Eleven. "E-man" went ahead to 7-Eleven and Esaí went to get his skateboard. After getting his skateboard, Esai began making his way to 7-Eleven to meet E-man. As he was walking across the street he was struck by a vehicle. Esaí never made it to 7-Eleven. He was airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he passed away 13 hours later due to severe head trauma, it was Wednesday, August 1, 2007.
The individual who hit Esaí had been drinking heavily at a local restaurant with his co-workers. He was drunk when he left the restaurant at approximately 9:20 p.m. He hit Esaí at 9:34 pm and did not stop to help him. Esaís life was cut short due to a hit and run by a drunk driver. I'm eternally grateful to the people who were there when this tragedy occurred and saw what happened to Esaí, helped him, and called for help.
I have advocated for Esaí and other crime victims and their families over the years. I've met with the Director of Corrections, took part in, and was filmed for a Pedestrian Safety video that is seen in over 30 driving schools in the state of Maryland. I've influenced changes for the families of victims who are notified when the criminal in their case is released from prison after serving his/her time.
Over time, I've reduced the content on this website as numerous links have become inactive. All of the original information on this website will be included in the biographical novel about Esaí.
In the meantime, please visit his Instagram page which has more photos and updates.
